The Volusia Sheriff’s Office is proud to offer all residents of Volusia County the opportunity to display an “Occupant With Autism” decal on their home or vehicle.

Special needs shelters, managed by local county emergency management, provide essential care for individuals requiring support beyond what general shelters offer. Their capabilities vary based on community needs and available resources. For inquiries about registration, sheltering, transportation, or evacuation, contact your local Emergency Management Office.

The agency supports individuals with disabilities and their families in living, learning and working within their communities by creating multiple pathways to possibilities.

Family Network on Disabilities
Family Network on Disabilities (FND) is a family-driven grassroots organization for persons with disabilities and their families. FND was founded in 1985 by a group of parents of persons with disabilities who came together for mutual support and information-sharing.

Exceptional Student Education (ESE)
The Bureau of Exceptional Education and Student Services administers programs for students with disabilities. Additionally, the bureau coordinates student services throughout the state and participates in multiple inter-agency efforts designed to strengthen the quality and variety of services available to eligible students with disabilities.

Florida Department of Children and Families
APS Program supports adults with disabilities (18 through 59 years of age) who need assistance to remain in their homes and/or in the community.
The Adult Protective Services Home and Community-Based Service Programs are fully encumbered at this time. Those seeking enrollment will be placed on a statewide waiting list for any and/or all programs for which they are determined eligible.

Volusia County Schools - Exceptional Student Education (ESE)
Exceptional Student Education (ESE) provides services to over 13,000 students within Volusia County Schools. Students may be considered for ESE services if they meet the criteria of one or more of the categories of disabilities and/or meet eligibility criteria for gifted services as outlined in the Exceptional Student Education Special Policies and Procedures (SP&P)
